I'm looking for celebrationsLAURENCE DUNCAN IRVINE
Published on 15/11/2024
A much beloved father, husband and brother, sadly passed away unexpectedly, though peacefully on Monday, November 4th, at the age of 72, following long-term complications of oropharyngeal cancer.
Laurence was an exceptionally intelligent and accomplished man, having graduated with a first class degree in chemistry from the University of Birmingham, before pursuing a long and successful career in the NHS, culminating in his multiple appointments as chief executive for various hospital trusts.
Despite his erudite nature and impressive career, Laurence will be remembered as a humble and quietly spoken man who was exceedingly generous towards his loved ones, and as a selfless and devoted carer to his beloved late wife Janet, with whom he spent 30 years of partnership, and looked after for 8 years in ill health before her passing last year.
He is survived by his sister Pamela, his daughter Helen, his son Rupert, and Rupert’s partner Ryan, who he treated as a son. He was loved dearly by those around him, and will be missed greatly.
He is now reunited with his beloved Janet, who was his raison d'être.
Laurence’s funeral and committal ceremony will be held on Wednesday, December 4th, at 11 a.m. at St. Martin’s Church in Fincham. Donations, if desired, for St. Martin’s Church in Fincham, may be given at the service. Any enquires to A J Coggles Family Funeral Directors, 13 Bridge Street, Downham Market, Norfolk, PE38 9DW. Tel. (01366) 384182.
