Swaffham Town 1, March Town United 1
A well-earned and well-deserved point for the Pedlars this weekend.
Following the previous two disappointing matches, the team battled showing character and spirit to contribute to a fine performance by both teams.
March started strongly, forcing a good save by Lee Brooks in the fifth minute but Swaffham countered and Kyle Plumb broke through the defence to shoot wide.
Further attempts followed but the break came when David Spalding won the ball in midfield, played to Stuart Seales whose through ball to Plumb, who finished with his left foot shot in the 26th minute.
March Town turned on the pressure but the Swaffham defence stood firm and good man-to-man marking by Spalding, ensured the danger threat from March's No. 8, Pepper was reduced to him being little more than a spectator.
The Pedlars' second half started with their foot still on the gas and they were unlucky not to get a second from an Andrew Hunter attempt.
March Town had further attempts stopped firstly by a great tackle by Matthew Parkinson and Lee Brooks again remaining strong in goal.
The March equaliser came in the 81st minute, a back-post header following a free-kick, pointlessly given away, the only opportunity Pepper had all game!
The Pedlars head to Gorleston this Tuesday evening (7.45pm ko) and then to Brantham Athletic next Saturday (3pm ko).
That day the reserves are away to Thorpe Rovers, 2.30pm ko and the 'A' Team are at home to Hingham Athletic Reserves in the Fen Regis Invitation Shield (3pm ko).
