Mildenhall Town produced the result of the day in the Ridgeons Premier Division, beating close rivals Kirkley & Pakefield 2-0 in a key clash.
Before the game - anticipated by both sides as a tough one - K&P were fourth with a game in hand over Mildenhall who were two places below.
This result, which sees Mildenhall climb one place to fifth, delighted manager Simon Charlton.
Before the game he stated that K&P are one of the sides Mildenhall want to overtake before the end of the season.
“It was an excellent result against the fourth-placed team. I was really pleased with it. It was nothing we didn't deserve, I think really it would have been a more accurate result if we had won by quite a few more.
“We were in command for the whole game, which was very pleasing. We were very disciplined in our shape and never let them settle and play their game.
“We had a lot of pace up front and, in all honesty, we could have been out of sight by half-time.
He added: “James Paterson scored with a 30-yarder after 20 minutes and then Jamie Thurlbourne scored a really great solo goal - he slipped past two or three defenders and took the ball round the keeper.”
Meanwhile, Norwich United's unbeaten start to 2010 came to a halt at the hands of leaders CRC at Plantation Park.
Three goals in the first 20 minutes saw the Cambridge side seal victory.
The Planters had more than matched their high-flying opponents but came away from the game with just Paul Atkins' goal on 59 minutes to show for their efforts.
Jordan Patrick bundled the opening goal in for CRC then just three minutes later Jack Bailey's header was pushed wide by United keeper Ben Nower but Patrick crossed from the left and this time Bailey nodded home.
Adam Marriott notched CRC's third goal with a great lob.
The second half saw United continue to battle and they got their goal when Fox was felled in the area and Atkins sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty.
Dereham hosted Hadleigh and lost 2-0, their inability to take their chances again leaving them without points. They passed the ball well during the game but couldn't break through the defence.
The Magpies were caught on the break when they committed too many players forward, with Craig Payne netting after his first shot had been blocked. Hadleigh added a second through Ronaldo Wright.
Danny Beaumont missed an early second-half chance before substitute Graham Barrett came on and came close on two occasions.
Wroxham, back in league action while they wait for their FA Vase semi-final, secured three points by beating Debenham LC 1-0 at home.
It wasn't a pretty game to watch but the Yachtsmen were just pleased to collect three points. The only goal of the game came in the 25th minute when Simpson put over a fine cross which Gary Gilmore volleged into a top corner from 20 yards.
In other Premier Division games Wisbech Town returned from Walsham-le-Willows without any points after a 1-0 defeat and Ely City claimed a 2-0 victory at Woodbridge.
Wivenhoe put four goals past visitors Newmarket, who netted twice themselves, and hosts Needham Market shared two goals with Felixstowe & Walton United.
