From local bakeries to members of the community, dozens of people are coming together to help the vulnerable through the Coronavirus outbreak.

Today, our sister paper, the Eastern Daily Press along with Norfolk County Council, launched our Here to Help campaign, in a bid to create an army of helpers to step in to offer that extra support.

Clearly, there are safety issues of which to be aware but there are all ways in which we can help - whether that’s dropping off food, walking a pet, phoning someone on their own or just pointing them in the direction of the most up to date advice.

We’ve included a Here to Help postcard, which we would love to see people post through their neighbours’ letterboxes.

Wellbread Bakers

Wellbread Bakers will be offering a telephone ordering service for those self isolating.

The family-run business will also be delivering orders onto the doorsteps of homes in surrounding villages such as Sporle, Necton, Holme Hale, Narborough and Castle Acre.

“Let’s all help each other through some of the darkest days of our generation,” said owners Emma and Andy Godfrey.

“If you are a small village close to us and we have missed you please enquire as we may still be able to deliver.

“Orders will need to be placed the day before for deliveries which will be made before 1pm. Please be sure to tell your older relatives about this as they may not be wanting to leave their homes at this time.”

The White Hart

The White Hart have created a community help food service named “Hart to Home”.

The menu, which includes everything from a roast dinner too macaroni cheese and a dessert, can be ordered by phone and delivered for £5 per meal.

Swaffham Iceland

Iceland in Swaffham have followed on from its colleagues in Belfast by opening between 7am and 9am for elderly and vulnerable customers.

All other customers will be able to enter the premisses between the normal hours of 9am - 5pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am- 4pm on a Sunday.

Market Cross Cafe Bar

For customers taking precautions and limiting travels, Market Cross Cafe Bar will be extending services to include home delivery within a five mile radius.

Orders must be places by 2.45pm and payment made over the phone.

Thing-Me-Bobs Thing-Me-Bobs in Swaffham have decided to open its store from 8.30am to give vulnerable people the chance to do shopping before stock flies off the shelves.

The Green Parrot will be offering a free home delivery service to residents in Swaffham who are self-isolating.
