Norfolk Constabulary is second in the list of the fastest call response times in the UK, according to a new study.
Norfolk was second fastest with the average call response time being 7.16 seconds; the mean answer time for each month is under eight seconds.
Quickest was the neighbouring force Lincolnshire, taking an average of seven seconds to answer 999 calls. Suffolk took 17 seconds.
The analysis of police.uk data by personal injury company claims.co.uk calculated the average time it took for a call to be transferred to each police force in the UK from March 2023 to February 2024.

The Home Office began to publish 999 response call times in 2022 in a bid to “further improve the speed of the service provided to the public.”
The national target is to answer 90pc emergency calls in less than 10 seconds.
The first performance table showed Norfolk ranked fifth with the more recent data suggesting its performance has improved.
Bedfordshire Police had the slowest response time taking more than half a minute to answer a 999 call on average.
