Swaffham Town put in an excellent performance on Saturday to come away from Stowmarket Town with a deserved point.

They picked up a 1-1 draw against a side dubbed the Manchester City of the Thurlow Nunn Premier League, who remain unbeaten and until the weekend had not dropped any points at home.

The two clubs have a history of great rivalry and recent meetings have produced some fantastic football and Saturday was not to disappoint.

The Old Gold and Blacks took the lead in the 36th minute through the prolific Josh Mayhew but the Pedlars kept their heads held high and played their technical game.

The equaliser came in the second half after Joe Jackson had been played in. He pulled the ball back to beat his defender and skilfully curled the ball around the advancing keeper for a wonderfully taken goal.

The final 27 minutes were nerve racking for the visitors, with keeper Tommy Rix making three top class saves and the action being end to end. Substitute Thomas Wagg had the best effort for the visitors in the dying minutes with his looping shot being touched over by the Stow keeper.

On Saturday FC Clacton make the journey to Swaffham for more league action.

Away at Harleston Town Reserves in the Norfolk Junior Cup Swaffham Town Reserves contributed to a real goal fest. From going 2-0 up in the first 12 minutes, they trailed 3-2 at half-time. With 15 minutes to go they were down 4-3 and with five minutes to go the scores were tied at 5-5. The winner came with just four minutes of normal time to play, Sary Rahma clinching the final goal for the Pedlars to progress to the next round with a 6-5 victory.

The Pedlars' scorers were Blake Stangroome, Kieran Bruce and Rahma, each with a brace of goals. They return to league action on Saturday at Wells Town.

There was a disappointing draw in midweek for the Under-18s. After going 3-0 up in the first half they allowed North Walsham Town back in with a goal before half-time and the visitors turned the game around in the second half to leave the Lane with a thoroughly deserved point. There's no game this week for the Young Pedlars, allowing time to re-group and analyse where the mistakes arose.

The Veterans are looking to continue their unbeaten run Sunday when they travel to Erpingham United
