It has been a mixed week for Swaffham Town.

After discovering that Alex Vincent had broken his leg at Debenham last weekend following a poor tackle, they picked up a fine 3-0 victory at Downham Town in the First Division Knock Out Cup and then put in a disappointing performance in the league against Cornard United to draw 2-2 at Shoemakers Lane.

Vincent, who is expected to be in plaster for at least six weeks, was at the Memorial Field on Tuesday night to see the team progress to the semi-finals.

An own goal, a Ryan Pearson penalty and a screamer from Joe Jackson saw the Pedlars set up a match with Holland from Division One South at Shoemakers Lane on Tuesday, March 12.

Saturday's performance was a bit more pedestrian after taking the lead in the ninth minute when Kyle Plumb was pulled back in the area and Joe Jackson converted from the spot.

The visitors levelled in the 33rd minute but it looked as though the game was sewn up in the 84th minute when Luke Reed picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box, showed some fine footwork to get in position and then squeezed off a shot to find the right hand corner.

The Pedlars should then have seen the game out but Cornard made break in added time and with the referee ignoring appeals for offisde the equaliser came and the match drawn.

The Reserves continued their Anglian Combination Division Three campaign with a well deserved 2-1 victory away to South Walsham. Liam Forshaw and Aidan Sewell were on target for the Pedlars in a win which maintained second place in the table.

There are no games this weekend for either first or reserve teams, a planned break for an in-season wedding. The clubhouse will be open as usual.

The next senior game will be the semi-final of the Norfolk Senior Cup against favourites Dereham Town. The game will be played at the FDC Bowthorpe, on Wednesday, February 27 (7.30pm).

The Under-18s were in action at Sheringham. They took the lead through Tommy Harwood but at half-time were 4-1 down. A better second half performance should have seen them score a hatful of goals but some fine saves and the woodwork were against them and they could only claw two goals back. Alfie Bobbins and Connor Germaney adding to the scoresheet.
